Paris: a wealth of events for September
Published on 9 September 2017, dans Events
Between visiting the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the Château and the Bois de Vincennes, you will surely want to fit a couple of key events that you may not have previously considered into your Parisian itinerary. White Nights and the Paris Motor Show are major events of the season in their respective fields and the chances are that you will thoroughly enjoy either of them.
White Nights: discover Paris from a different perspective
Once you have made yourself comfortable amidst the excellent services and facilities of the Hotel Jacques de Molay, you may feel tempted to check out a free annual dusk until dawn arts festival that has proven to be extremely popular in the capital over the last fifteen years. Les Nuits Blanches (White Nights) was inspired by a festival that takes place in St. Petersburg, Russia, where music and the arts keep the population happy on nights when the sun barely sets. White Nights has been a fixture on the Parisian arts calendar since 2002 and is always scheduled for the first Saturday night in October. This year the date to remember is October 1st.
It’s a convivial and hugely enjoyable event that revolves around the installation of artworks in various symbolic places and within some of the most beautiful monuments and cultural institutions of Paris. This provides a very original and exciting way to interact with the urban space and experience the city from a new angle. So it is that on October 1st 2016, art will take over the city. The event’s artistic director changes regularly and this year it’s the turn of Jean de Loisy, President of the Palais de Tokyo, to do the honours. This year attendees can follow Poliphile, a Parisian in search of his beloved Polia. During his journey the hero experiences various adventures illustrated by 35 amazing works scattered all over Paris. From the Ile de la Cité to the Javelle through the Berges Ouest and the Hôtel de Ville, this interactive story promises excitement from beginning to end.
The Paris Motor Show: the future of the automobile in one huge trade fair
For lovers of beautiful cars and keen drivers who want to discover the latest technology and see the models of tomorrow, the Mondial de l’Auto is the place to be from October 1st to 16th. Better known around the world as the Paris Motor Show, it is the oldest trade fair of its kind and, many would say, the best. In the spacious environs of the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre visitors can enjoy the unveiling of new concept cars and production vehicles, and learn about the latest innovations in areas such as green energy, connected cars and autonomous cars, all subjects in vogue at present. French manufacturers will be at the forefront with the presentation of the new Scénic, Grand Scénic and Koleos from Renault and the new Citroen C3. Best of all, this year the big exhibition looks very promising, focussing as it does on the famous cars of the movies.
