Major art and design events in Paris this spring

Spring is coming to Paris and bringing with it a breath of creative excitement as the city prepares to welcome artists, designers, galleries and art world professionals from all over the globe. This time of year in the capital is the season of the Art Paris Art Fair, as well as PAD (Paris Art and Design); two events that have become synonymous with quality, innovation, eclecticism and discovery, and which are highly recommended here at the Hotel Jacques de Molay. The Art Paris Art Fair takes place in the Grand Palais from March 24th to 29th, overlapping with PAD, which runs from March 26th to 29th at the Esplanade des Feuillants in the beautiful surroundings of the Jardin des Tuileries.
Major art and design events in Paris this spring
The Beaux-Arts architecture of the Grand Palais provides a remarkable yet wholly appropriate backdrop for the wide ranging panorama of modern and contemporary art that is the Art Paris Art Fair. This is a very inclusive event that also embraces the fields of design, photography and art books. It is also most definitely an international occasion, as some 140 galleries from 20 countries will be represented. The fair has gained a solid reputation for exploring the art and design culture of various regions of the world that seldom enjoy wide exposure in France. In keeping with this tradition, each year a guest region or nation is invited to participate. In 2015 it’s the turn of Southeast Asia and Singapore and the fair will showcase the work of talented creators from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Burma, Indonesia and the Philippines, along with relevant conferences and video screenings. This will coincide with the Singapore Art Festival in Paris, commemorating a half century since that nation became independent. The fair’s general section will include a showcase for some newer galleries, an art book selection, 30 solo shows and an exploration of the connections between contemporary art and design. The entire event has a unique flavour, and at about the same time you can also enjoy another eclectic event...
An art event in the Jardin des Tuileries
Modern art and the decorative arts along with their related services and industries form the focus of PAD, an event that has gained a great deal of prestige during the 18 years of its existence. Some 75 galleries from around the world will be participating in this essential event and 40,000 visitors will be offered the opportunity to get in on the ground floor with some vital new talents. Additionally, this year will see greater space given to Primitive Art and the importance of paying attention to the special vitality this form of creativity often embodies. A PAD exclusive this year will be presented in the entrance area; a superb installation by Emmanuel Babled called The Breathing Cloud, an inspiring burst of hand blown glass and dancing light.
