From intriguing hidden courtyards to flourishing flower-filled gardens, from artists' studios to enticing eateries where you can enjoy typical Parisian cuisine, the Jourdain quarter has a lot to offer. Check it out during your stay at the Hotel Jacques de Molay.
A district with a soul that will always be Belleville
The Jourdain quarter has forged a distinctive identity; that of a small yet cosmopolitan village sheltering bucolic corners hidden from view. We appreciate it for its greenery, mouth-watering food shops, pretty little décor boutiques, artists' ateliers, cul-de-sacs and secret alleys as well as the superb view over Paris commanded by this hilltop village at the heart of Belleville.
An itinerary for your stroll in the Jourdain quarter
Take a stroll through the maze of small streets in the neighbourhood of the Rue Jourdain. Then head along the Rue des Pyrénées, the attractive street where stands the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a superb Gothic-style building dating from the mid-19th century. Going up towards the Rue Fernand Raynaud you’ll come across the adorable cobbled land called the Rue des Cascades. Continue to the Parc de Belleville and its belvedere, where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the capital.
Gourmet stops along the way
We also suggest a gourmet stopover at the restaurant Nouveaux Sauvages in the Place Guignier, instantly recognisable by its pretty, colourful facade. For a drink or lunch, you might want to try the little Bistro le Square, where the tasty tapas delights the most demanding taste buds. Finally, for lovers of the fine gâteaux of yesteryear, the quarter has an essential address; the Pâtisserie de l'Eglise Demoncy-Vergne. Established in 1887 in front of the church of the same name, it sports a superb fuchsia-coloured frontage and promises wonderful indulgent treats. Come and taste its specialty, Caradou...
