Autumn in Paris offers a wealth of attractions, activities and experiences guaranteed to delight the discerning visitor. This October there are pleasures of the mind and pleasures of the senses to be enjoyed thanks to the YIA Art Fair, an international exhibition of contemporary art at the Carreau du Temple, and the Salon du Chocolat, a tasty and tempting trade fair at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre. The team here at the Hotel Jacques de Molay is ready to welcome you.
The YIA Art Fair; the spotlight is on creativity at the Carreau du Temple
The 11th edition of the international YIA (Young International Artists) Art Fair in Paris takes place from October 19th to 22nd, 2017, at the Carreau du Temple for the 4th consecutive year. Founded in 2010 by Romain Tichit with the aim of providing an international vision of art, the event has become a must. More than 20,000 people are expected during the four days of the fair. FIAC and Paris Art Week will also be presented in the capital at the same time.
Some 60 international galleries will display the work of more than 200 young artists, so it’s a great way to discover the art stars of tomorrow. The exhibition is structured into dedicated sectors designed to best present the works, including discovery, street art and first show. Various partners are involved in YIA, and this year the HSBC Bank will present a retrospective of the winners of its photography prize over the last 22 years. The YIA is truly international, presenting a selection of galleries and artists from more than twenty nations and facilitating exchanges and meetings between participants in the art world.
Your visit also gives you the opportunity to discover the Carreau du Temple, a beautiful multidisciplinary cultural space which first opened its doors in March, 2014.
The Salon du Chocolat, a major gourmet event
The international chocolate and cocoa trade fair called Salon du Chocolat returns to the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre from October 28th to November 1st, 2017. This is the rendezvous for all chocolate lovers and industry professionals. The figures give an idea of the scale of the event: 60 countries represented, 500 participants from all over the world and chocolate from 5 continents.
Come with your family and share exceptional experiences thanks to a rich and diverse programme of entertainment, activities and special events. Acclaimed chefs are on hand to provide live cooking demonstrations. Children and teenagers have their own space where they are introduced to the secrets of chocolate and pastry via educational workshops. Japanese gastronomy and its connections with chocolate is in the spotlight. Designers and chocolatiers join forces to create chocolate sculptures, and chocolate dresses for the fashion parade. Richard Orlinski, a famous contemporary artist, creates a monumental work with the famous pâtissier Yann Couvreur. It all adds up to a chocolate fan’s dream in 20,000 m² of exhibition space!
